Session: Carbon in the Western Australian Outback: understanding the science
Peter is a geologist and ecologist with nearly 40 years professional experience in a variety of environments including the sub-arctic of Canada and Alaska, the wet tropics of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea and the drylands of north Africa and Australia. In 2007, he completed a major study (PhD) of the ecological health of the southern rangelands of Western Australia using data collected by the Western Australian Rangelands Monitoring System (WARMS) for the period 1990 to 2006. Since 2010, Peter has been keenly focussed on sequestered carbon in the WA rangelands, initially with the Department of Agriculture and Food WA (DAFWA) and then with Rangelands NRM (WA). He is now a consultant.
